"Here´s to love"..... and those I love deeply.
What a wonderful ride life has been. Singing became my passion at a very young age. With perseverance and hard work I fulfilled my dream of becoming part of London’s West End musical theatre, under the direction and mentorship of the renowned, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Macintosh. After many years away from music I am now enjoying the chance to sing in the exciting musical world of Jazz. This has given me the opportunity to combine my experience from Broadway musicals with the freedom of expressiveness and individuality that this musical genre offers.
Every song on this CD has been specifically chosen because it reflects aspects of my life... and I dedicate this music to those who have inspired and encouraged me to continue singing.
This is where my heart and soul live ~ I just lost sight of it.....
"Here’s to Love", I dedicate to my four beautiful children, Benedikt, Tanya, Sandra and Kingsley and my (so far )six grandchildren, my family and close friends. All of who, without knowing it, keep me ticking though the ups and downs of life.
"Here´s to Love", for my ever talented and gracious friends Overton Berry and Clarence Acox, who have listened with open ears, open hearts, and offered priceless guidance. Offering love and gratitude also to Darin Clendenin for his patience and support and with deep appreciation for his beautiful sensitivity and musical expression. To Milo Peterson for his assistance and friendship. To Jon Goforth for our long chats and shared encouragement. I am grateful to Phil Sparks not only for his musicality, but also his rare quality of calm approach. I have learned from each one of these incredible musicians. I am humbled, as always, to keep company with so many great musicians and truly appreciate their hard work and professionalism in the limited hours we shared during this recording.
And last, but definitely not least, to David Lange who has guided me with respect and always with insight and tenacity ~ knowing that a limited budget does not reflecta limited talent. His appreciation for this music led him to give graciously of his time and support in measures beyond my expectations - thank you so much!
Making the music for this CD has brought me so much joy (sometimes sadness), I can only hope that listeners can find something special among these selections to awaken their love and passion ~ with lyrics that can bring back personal "memories".
The last song on the CD is an Icelandic Lullaby. I felt compelled to add this song to honor the beautiful country which I love, and where I spent my formative years. It originates during the period of the Icelandic Vikings, passed down for centuries to sing babies to sleep. I have delighted in singing this for my own children and grandchildren.I hope it brings peacefulness to my listeners as it has with my family.
